WOMENS WORSHIP NIGHT

It was 12th June 2009, at exactly 10pm when over 300 women gather at 16/18 Akanbi Onitiri, Eric Moore Surulere to spend the night with their Maker bringing unimaginable worship at His Throne. It was a presence to behold as women of every shape, colour and background declared their vows with God through soul-lifting praises. While the worships and praises grew wilder, the Almighty however responded through the opening of heaven as its doors and windows send forth heavy showers of blessings.

And that wasn’t all! Sisters beat the drums and operated the electronic equipment themselves. The Lord made use of many hidden talents!

It was an experience filled with awe for the Almighty God as women of ICOC and friends all over Lagos State worshipped at the Throne of Mercy, pleading not only for them but also for the entire universe. There was deep and sobering confession, earnest prayer and lots of Scripture reading. There was also a time of testimony and sharing about the power of God through prayer.

When it came to testimony time, the audience were cut in soberness as Rolayo Ogbonnaya shared the amazing grace of God in her life, illustrating her experience as “one minute life and next minute death”; the graciousness of God displayed on her journey through the valley of shadow of death, yet fear was cast out in darkness. As she, through her testimony prepared every soul present, nothing could have been more worthy than to crown Him king that is forever.

If you are familiar with the story of Evangelist Emmanuel Emeh, you would agree with me that Henrietta Emeh can be liken to the virtuous women “who does her husband good” by the support she gave while the entire family journeyed through a thorny path, a phase of its own in their life. No wonder that the bible made us understand that the devil is a roaring lion, looking for who to devour, and yet praise be to our Father who did not let the Emehs suffer shame but victoriously liberated them from the hands of the evil one.  All praise is to our God and Maker!

The female choir led through the night in songs of praise, worship and adoration. One of the highlights was ‘Praise in Yoruba’ and ‘Praise in Ibo’ where popular songs in the vernacular were not only sung but their meanings interpreted for the benefit of non speakers.

Even after the formal end of the night, sisters from across the regions were able to spend meaningful time with each other in fellowship.

It was not only a great spiritual time but a truly bonding one as well.

By Gods grace it will be a regular event in the women’s ministry
