Singles Worship Night

As an Aftermath of the singles retreat in May 2009, the singles in the Lagos church craved for more time with their Maker and had a night of praises and worship at the Surulere land on 19 June 2009.

Lead Evangelist, Chris Ogbonnaya ushered the singles into the atmosphere of reverence by reciting Psalm 100 and Haggai 1 urging everyone to make use of the night to pray, confess sins and humble themselves before God Almighty. He further encouraged disciples to continue in the ongoing 40 days fasting and prayer as we may easily forget the essence of our call and be like the Israelites after their lived in Babylon for 70 years; instead of a reunion with God in their own land, it became an issue of “to your tent o Israel” while God’s house lay in ruin because they lost their priority.

Too many of us fall by the roadside and get choked up or eaten by the birds because we get our priorities shifted somewhere along the line. On a final note, he reminded each man about the danger of lukewarmness and worldly ambition as the abundance of our hard work may result into abject lack if we abandon the work and service of God Almighty.

It was a night that every single man and woman that was present cannot forget in a hurry; the unity in spirit and wholehearted willingness to worship before His throne was stupendous.

There was nothing more beautiful than seeing the vigorous stamina of ICOC youths in the praise of God, no wonder the friend of God, David and the wise man, Solomon described, respectively in Psalm and Ecclesiastes the most appealing way of service to God; a service rendered to God while in youth and strength.

After what seemed to be an incredible praise, prayers where rendered in intercession for the church, the people and the nation as a whole. The outcry of the souls can best be described as hungry, whereas sober atmosphere created gave each man a time to commune with God.

Could there have been a better avenue to lay bare the youthful sins of these men and women, who not only acknowledge their sins but also made fresh dedications towards the Creator. Indeed, the time of confession is a time of contact and revelation as no man can hide himself when the Holy Spirit of God is in control; though not to mortal but to Him who had already foreseen our deeds before we were conceived in our mothers’ womb. “He who conceals his sins shall not prosper”.

After the confession time, the rest of the night was immersed with praises, worship and prayer. Disciples had an exciting coffee break and fellowship with one another as the clock ticked away.

It was an avenue Mike Olomo used to remind every single of the forthcoming singles conference in Winneba, Accra this December and urged everyone to start making plans for the programme immediately in order to the get every logistics in place on time.

In closure, every man stood refreshed and reassured of the faithfulness of God with the strength to run towards to the mark while looking forward to another powerful time-out with an Awesome God.

To God is the glory. Amen
