It was an exciting atmosphere on Sunday April 5, 2009 and venue was the Akanbi Onitiri facility of the Lagos Church where members from every part of Lagos came together (only for the second time this year) in worship of the Lord Almighty.

The Sermon for the day titled ‘The Foolishness of God’ was delivered by Mr. Imagbe Igbinoba, an elder-in-training and lay minister from Ikorodu sector of Ikeja-Ketu Region. With the text scripture being 1 Cor. 1: 18-29. It was such a short but powerful message that called everyone to not take God’s silence or seeming ‘meekness’ for granted.

The service was special in a lot of ways as several events took place on the day; it was on this day that the logo and backdrop for the celebration of the much-talked about, the much-publicized 20th Anniversary of the Church were unveiled and the countdown began in style.

Souvenirs of all sorts ranging from t-shirts, pens, umbrellas, book markers et cetera were on display for sale after the service. Disciples came out en mass to not just catch a glimpse of the eye-catching items on display but buy for themselves, friends, loved ones and well-wishers alike all in the spirit of the Church’s 20th Anniversary celebration in July, 2009.

Also on the same day, the Church celebrated and honoured the milestone achievement of Miss Gbemi Mann who emerged as the best graduating student of the Lagos State University for the 2007/2008 Academic Session.

''What an encouraging scenario! This tells us that if we put the same diligence, hope and trust, then we'll all make it to heaven with 'first class honours', thanks sister for setting the pace'' observed Boniface Masila, a brother from the Nairobi Church in Kenya.

Two of our brothers, Deji Olaleye and Dennis Hogan were also recognized and celebrated as they recently became qualified Medical Doctors.

It is of importance to mention at this juncture that Sunday April 5, 2009 also marked the grand finale of the first ever CBF-organized (Christian Business Forum) Trade Fair which had kicked off on Friday the 3rd. Several enterprising brothers and sisters, company owners, ensured they were not left out in the scheme of things. Items such as footwear, clothing, kitchen utensils, food items (in powder form), computer accessories etc were conspicuously displayed.

The after-service fellowship was quite different as everyone had one thing or the other to see, buy, touch or think about.
