Pilot Project to Cultivate Cassava Underway

Plans are currently underway by The ICOC, Lagos Agric Ventures Ltd to embark upon a pilot project to cultivate Cassava, intercropped with Maize, Plantain and Ugu vegetables at the farm in Imeko, Abeokuta.

For the Cassava and Maize intercrop, 25 hectares of land is allotted, while one hectare each is allotted for Plantain and Ugu cultivation. Cassava and Plantain matures within 12 months while Maize matures within 5 months of planting.

The farm, which last year produced garri for disciples and cassava mash for the flour mill industry, when fully implemented will expand its management personnel and operational capacity to allow for economies of scale. This will enable it engage the 10 plots of land along the Abeokuta/Imeko express road belonging to the ICOC Agric Ventures for further processing of agricultural products to maximise profit from the produce.
