Special Worship Service

“In His strength
We can do everything that we wanna do
We can go even higher than
We ever thought we could
Cos on our own we can do nothing
But bow and worship Him
Cos everything we do, we do in His Strength”

These were the introductory lines of the Lagos church’s 20th anniversary theme song as song composer, Manny Eke and music director, Richard Efunbote taught the congregation at a special Sunday service on June 21 2009 as the choir fine tuned their performance for the celebration.

Laughter mixed with humour and excitement as both the young and old sang the 20th anniversary theme song in love and fellowship and I don’t know if Manny Eke and Richard Efunbote bargained for this but they’ve got the whole church caught up in a frenzy! Sunday service was a fun day. You could hear the determination in every voice to master the above lyrics.

The ‘normal’ Sunday sermon did not take place; rather Bolaji Akinfenwa, who shared thoughts on the Communion (which also was the sermon for the day) encouraged everyone to ‘’strive towards acquiring and retaining the virtues outlined in 2Peter 1:5-7 which are the ingredients of productivity and sustenance of faith in Christ Jesus and at same time proffer everything we need to live a complete righteous life in goodness.’’

He further used his personal turnaround experience to urge the church to identify their areas of responsibility; playing individual roles which is the key of presenting us as the perfect church before Christ as His bride.

Recapping what had been a truly exciting and fulfilling service, an Elder in the church, Mr Israel Ereola urged the congregation to continue to pray that God should help establish our singing ministry in all regions of the church.
