ICOC Abuja Visits Orphanage in Kwali

As one song can spark a moment, one laugh could conquer gloom, and one touch can show you care, the Int’l Church of Christ Abuja went out on Saturday the 23 January, 2010 to spend time and donate their widow’s mite to an orphanage (Disable Children & Motherless Babies Home) Kwali in the outskirt of Abuja .

This is the first reach-out programme to the less privileged and this one smile has begun a friendship which the orphanage is looking forward to in lifting up their soul.

The founder of the orphanage Pastor Okoliko and his wife were very grateful to have enjoyed such support from the church poor out-reach headed by Mr. & Mrs Upamugo.

Disciples were fulfilled to be part of this event and looks forward to many more outing.

Appointment of Deacons in the Abuja Church.

Sequel to the last family meeting held in the Abuja church where the Church leader Mr. Okechukwu Emeka announced that the church would be appointing deacons, the Church is going through a very interesting process based on biblical injunctions to appoint deacons to serve in various ministries in the Church.

Emeka Okechukwu asked the Church to study these scriptures (Philippians 1-1 Acts 6 and 1 timothy 3) for about 2 weeks (10th May 2008) and preached a sermon on which he expounded on the qualities of a deacon. The Church prayed and fasted and after two weeks made nominations for nine position of deacons in the following areas:

  1. The Four Family Groups Namely
    1. Gwarimpa
    2. Kubwa/Dutse
    3. Nyanya/Mararaba
    4. Maitama

2.            Kids Kingdom
3.            Administration
4.            Singles Ministry
5.            Married’s Ministry
6.            Benevolence/Welfare

The church however is planning a thanksgiving service were deacons would be presented to the congregation.
We will keep u posted.
